Transmitter combines dewpoint and pressure measurements in compressed air applications

Paul Boughton

For the first time, dewpoint and pressure are measured simultaneously allowing for real-time pressure compensations for calculations of ppm or atmospheric dewpoint, meaning separate conversions are no longer required to take pressure changes into account. It also means that no ambiguity exists in the information, making the data reliable and accurate, and consequently, enabling more informative decision making and timely corrective actions. Regulative requirements, for example for medical gas, can also be fulfilled quickly and conveniently.

Furthermore, as one single transmitter provides two of the most important measurements for compressed air applications simultaneously, installation costs can be reduced and setup and maintenance is simple and efficient.

The DPT146 complements Vaisala's broad offering for compressed air monitoring. The new transmitter brings together Vaisala's extensive technological expertise in sensor-technology development by combining two sensor technologies - the Vaisala DRYCAP and Vaisala BAROCAP - that have been proven accurate and stable in a variety of dewpoint and pressure measurements for more than 20 years.
