Hitachi Display Products Group is introducing a new high-performance 6.5inch VGA TFT display. The TX17D01VM2CAA features an active matrix, transmissive TFT LCD display with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels (VGA). A low-power white LED backlight provides a high brightness of 600cd/m2 and has a lifetime of 70,000 hours. The TX17D01VM2CAA is claimed to deliver exceptional optical performance in many operating conditions and environments, while the LED backlight delivers reduced power consumption, ease of control and long lifetime.

Mark Stephenson, product marketing manager for Hitachi Displays Product Group, comments: "With the introduction of the new 6.5inch VGA module we are continuing to enhance our medium-size display product portfolio. The high-performance features offered by the TX17D01VM2CAA will enable significant new business opportunities to be developed. We are confident the 6.5inch VGA display module will quickly find its niche in meeting the needs of the demanding industrial market."

The TX17D01VM2CAA display module measures 153.0mm (w) x 118.0mm (h) x 9.0mm (d) and an industry-standard 18-bit RGB CMOS interface supports up to 262k colours. These two key features enable the TX17D01VM2CAA to offer mechanical and electrical compatibility with other industry-standard 6.5inch VGA display modules. The new TX17D01VM2CAA also supports a wide operating temperature range of -20 to +70 degrees C.

A touch panel version of the display will also be available to suit a wide range of embedded industrial systems, instrumentation, security and process control applications.
