The company can now boast to be the largest and most trusted printed circuit sources in Europe.

ALR spends in excess of £4m annually on bare boards alone, which gives it considerable leverage when it comes to ensuring most competitive pricing, together with outstanding levels of customer service and support. Thanks to its carefully vetted and approved network of trusted manufacturers around the world, ALR is able to supply all printed circuit board technologies, in any quantity and on the most demanding of lead times. ALR is not tied to any particular manufacturer or manufacturing process, allowing it the freedom to match customer requirements to the manufacturer best placed to service them. Its UK-based suppliers offer fast turnaround times for small quantities; higher volume requirements are sourced from one of its six approved manufacturers in Asia.

ALR’s extensive knowledge of the Asian electronics manufacturing industry, built up over 14 years, has allowed it to create a cadre of trusted suppliers, each with its own speciality such as fast-turnaround or expertise in a particular technology. Once again, this flexibility means that ALR is not constrained by reliance on a particular manufacturing site or technology and can select the best supplier on a job-by-job basis. This delivers a huge commercial advantage for ALR’s customers.

Quality control is a fundamental aspect of ALR's business ethic: ALR’s Quality Management System is fully accredited under ISO9001:2000, as are all of its suppliers - both in the UK and offshore. All its suppliers are monitored and benchmarked on a regular basis against standards of product quality, on-time delivery and level of service provided. As well as allowing ALR's Quality Management team to conduct objective, ongoing analysis of supplier standards.

ALR also supports its customers through a variety on inventory control schemes. The company was the first board supplier in the UK to offer a Consignment Stock system. Under this scheme, six month’s supply of units are purchased and delivered to the customer in one shipment, delivering a substantial cost saving and just one delivery charge. The customer reports back to ALR the number of boards used on a monthly basis, and they are invoiced for that amount only. The advantages of this scheme are many: Bulk buying reduces unit cost; the flexibility of having stock held on their premises means no waiting for goods to be delivered, yet as the customer only pays for the amount used in a particular month, the amount of cash tied-up in stock is minimised. ALR’s founding principle of excellent customer service is still very much at the core of its business today
