Pneumatic valve terminals include IO link interface

Paul Boughton
Rexroth is now offering its LS04 pneumatic valve terminal system with an I/O link interface, which makes it possible to communicate process, diagnostic, and parameterisation data directly at the lowest field level. The integrated, open I/O-interface standard enables users to control Rexroth components such as actuators, as well as products from other manufacturers.

Thanks to the cyclical transmission of process data within 2ms and the capacity for reliable error detection and localisation, the I/O link connection increases productivity and reduces machine downtime.

The new LS04 valve terminal system with integrated I/O link interface is easily incorporated into existing, decentralised automation architectures. Full compatibility with standard I/O enables mixed operation and simple retrofitting in existing machines. Systems that already have an I/O link network installed do not require a second line to control the valve terminal. The valve terminal system can be integrated into an existing bus system via the I/O link.

LS04 valve terminals with integrated I/O link interface are highly suitable for small handling applications with high-speed requirements and restricted installation space. These terminals can control up to 32 coils on 24 valve positions.
