Temperature sensors equipped with IO-Link

Paul Boughton

The latest versions of IFM Electronic's popular TR and TN series temperature sensors are equipped with IO-Link for parameter setting and diagnosis.

The compact TN type units with an integrated temperature probe are distinguished by excellent response times, high pressure resistance and adaptive process connections.

Programmable analogue, switching and IO-Link signals are generated in the range of -40 to 150 degrees C. In contrast, the TR accepts separate Pt100 and Pt1000 sensors in the even wider temperature range of -40 to 300 degrees C.

Both series have a clearly legible four-digit alphanumeric display. Two pushbuttons allow direct local parameter setting, and a wide range of accessories, adapters and connectors ensures easy and safe integration into the process.

Setting via a PC is said to be one of the best features of these units: the sensor can be set up in the comfort of the office before being fitted on site. All that is needed, apart from a PC with a USB 2.0 port, is one interface cable from IFM Electronic, along with IFM's freely downloadable Container FDT software. This combination supplies power to the sensor while it is being programmed and sets the sensor up for process integration.

FDT standardises the communication interface between field devices and the control, and is manufacturer-independent, so any FDT-enabled device can be addressed.

IFM is committed to working closely with its customers to develop products that match their needs, and the company provides expert, readily accessible technical support.
