ACHEMA 2009: A showcase of major process industry trends

ACHEMA 2009 is drawing closer, and bookings forecast a significant growth of the flagship event for the process industries.

"The chemical industry in Europe as well as globally continues to be stable and should remain largely unaffected by the turbulences in some other industries. Therefore, we expect a very successful event in 2009," says Prof Dr Gerhard Kreysa, CEO of DECHEMA which organises the event from May 11th-15th in Frankfurt on Main, Germany.

The process industries - chemical industry, biotechnology, pharmaceutical and food industries, environmental technology and energy production - constantly face new challenges that can only be overcome by focussed interaction between the various disciplines.

ACHEMA offers an opportunity to present innovations and trends and create synergies across different industries. The current trend to either invest in new plants or upgrade existing ones is mainly triggered by the need to use resources and energy more efficiently. Innovative concepts for this are presented in the special show and will, in a wider sense, run through the whole ACHEMA 2009 like a thread.

The congress programme will once more include more than 900 talks in 8 general and 21 special sessions covering the whole range of exhibitors from reaction pathways to material and safety issues and current R&D trends from biotechnology to ionic liquids, microreaction technology and high-throughput technologies.
