Diaphragm shaft seals made from high wear resistant material

Paul Boughton
Blagdon Pump has recently approved a new range of diaphragm shaft seals which will replace the current O-ring design.

These seals are injection moulded from a very high wear resistant material, formulated especially for Blagdon. The seals require a minimum of lubrication, designed to run from the main systems lubrication only. Lubricators for individual pumps should no longer be necessary. They are bi-directional so can be fitted either way round.

In-house and Beta testing of the Extreme seals has proven that they last six times longer than the original design and that of the competition. Subsequently, the period between maintenance is much longer which results in less downtime and significant savings to the End User.

For example, assuming 30 minutes to strip and rebuild at £45/hour and a £500/hour loss in production during maintenance. Over the typical 12 times occurrence maintenance cycle of the old seal, the saving would be £2730, says Blagdon.
