Hydraulic pumps achieve greater efficiency

Paul Boughton

Increased efficiency, lower noise and improved controllers are the main features of Rexroth's new 32 series of the A10VSO variable axial piston hydraulic pumps.

Designed for use in the upper medium-duty range, these variable displacement pumps are suitable for use in harsh working environments with typical fields of application including plastics processing machines, machine tools and power units.

Available initially in nominal sizes 71,100 and 140 (with sizes 28,45 and 180 to follow) and with a nominal maximum pressure of 280bar and 350bar peak pressure, the optimised drive of the A10VSO 32 series permits higher rotational speeds and, at the same time, up to 3 per cent greater efficiency compared to previous models. Innovative improvements in the housing design have helped to reduce noise levels by up to 3dB. Rexroth design engineers have also succeeded in achieving greater resistance to suction-pressure dips and housing-pressure peaks.

Rexroth can supply most of the nominal sizes offered with either a two- or a four-hole flange. Another innovative feature standard on this pump is the universal through-drive that allows flexible connection of a range of other pumps using a corresponding flange kit.

The 32 series of the A10VSO also offers - just like its predecessor, the 31 series - a large selection of controllers and adjustments that increase flexibility further.

In view of the harsh conditions of use it has to cope with, the current controller generation features a new sealing concept that reduces the risk of leakage. Rexroth has also integrated a feature that safeguards against excessively high pressure settings and resists dirt and contamination.
