AchemAsia 2007: the gateway to China’s process industry

Paul Boughton

Already the seventh successful event in a row, AchemAsia 2007 (International Exhibition-Congress on Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology), which will be held from 14–18th May 2007 in Beijing, in the People’s Republic of China, will provide a perfect opportunity to benefit from the exciting opportunities that a rapidly developing China offers suppliers to the process industries.

The event organisers DECHEMA eV say the exhibition and congress are well-balanced: the vast scope of the exhibition is complemented by conference sessions which highlight current trends in chemical apparatus and plant construction, process technology, petrochemistry, water treatment, laboratory and analytical techniques, packaging and storage techniques, maintenance and quality assurance.

Other topics are: investing in China, chemical parks, sustainable water management for industry and municipalities, industrial and labour safety, nanotechnology and use of renewables and synthetic fuels.

Around 500 exhibitors from 20 different countries and some 20 000 visitors will exchange their ideas and experience at this major international forum for the process industries in Asia.

Nowhere else do technical solutions for the process industries meet with a similar response. DECHEMA eV, the organisers of AchemAsia 2007, has created a network of alliances with nearly 30 domestic and international institutions supporting the AchemAsia. This will, say the organisers, guarantee optimum attendance and media coverage.

A new feature of the event in 2007 is Bio-AchemAsia, which will take place parallel to AchemAsia on the Beijing fairgrounds and will focus on industrial biotechnology. The main target of this première show is the initiation of partnering between Chinese and Western companies in science and technology.

Focal topics are, says DECHEMA eV, smart biotech equipment, biosafety, bioenergy and refining, and licensing.
