On-site solution for trace heating pipes

Paul Boughton

Depu is an ATEX-approveduniversal on-site solution for controlling/limiting temperature and for controlling power.

The temperature controller works as a two-point regulator which allows two target values to be set. The first set-point (retention temperature) addresses the integrated power control unit which regulates the power supplied to the heating tape. The second set-point (alarm temperature) makes it possible to generate an alarm signal if the temperature becomes too high or too low.

The temperature limiter works as an autonomous system parallel to the temperature controller. Its set-point determines the limiting temperature of the heating cable (hot spot).

The power control unit with a nominal current of 25A enables the heating circuit’s output to be optimally adapted to the length of the heating circuit with fixed resistor heating cables. This ensures great flexibility should the heating circuit need to be extended or reduced. The full-wave control excludes adverse influences from the mains power supply.

PT100 sensors with a three-conductor switching arrangement can be connected to the measuring inputs of the controller and limiter.

The current temperature of the pipe being heated and the limiter temperature that has been set can be read off from the bright LED displays.

The device recognises errorssuch as temperature overshoots and undershootsgauge breaks or short-circuits and thermal overloadsas they occur.
