Smoothness and very high performance for a wide range of brushless motor applications are available with the new MDrive17Plus Motion Control unit from IMS.

It combines a highly integrated microstepping driver with an intelligent motion controller and a Nema17 brushless high-torque motor (Fig.1).

Within the compact package measuring just 56x58x43mm (2.2x2.3x1.7inches)patented

second-generation technology delivers advanced current control flow through the motorsignificantly dampening resonance over the entire speed range and reducing audible noise. Robust general-purpose I/Ooperating to +24Vhas been expanded from four to eight channelsand the operating temperature range has been expanded to -40 to 85°C to provide long-lifetrouble-free service in demanding environments.

The MDrive17Plus accepts a broad range of input voltages from +12 to +48Vdcand the unit includes 10bit analogue inputa 0 to 5MHz step clock rate20 microstep resolutions up to 51200 steps per revolutionand a full-featuredeasy-to-program instruction set. Electronic gearing enables the unit to follow a rotary or linear axis at a controlled ratioor an output clock can be generated relative to the internal step clock. Numerous options and accessories are availableincluding a long-life linear actuatorencoderintegrated planetary gearboxcontrol knob and linear slide.
