Solid Edge to be available in 10 languages

UGS is now shipping Solid Edge Version 19 to customers worldwide.

Solid Edge is the core CAD component of the UGS Velocity Series portfolio, which the company describes as the industry's first comprehensive, preconfigured portfolio of digital product design, analysis, manufacturing and data management software for the PLM mid-market.

UGS is shipping the English version of Solid Edge Version 19 and nine additional languages will become available throughout the next 10 weeks.

Understanding the rapid changes taking place in today's global manufacturing market, Version 19 builds on Solid Edge's claimed position as the most cost-effective, complete and open solution for 2D and 3D design and collaboration. UGS has added hundreds of customer-requested enhancements, complementing new capabilities for motion simulation, assembly and disassembly videos, 3D design annotation, as well as visual collaboration tools that leverage the open JT data format, which is now said to be the world's most widely used lightweight format for sharing 3D product data.

New features improve creating, sharing and managing design information, including: full motion simulation (quickly and easily define relationships between different motion drivers); animated and dynamic documentation (generate high-quality videos for clearer manufacturing instructions and technical manuals); product manufacturing information (PMI) (produce 3D-annotated designs in accordance with world standards); JT file sharing (enable anyone in the supply chain to exchange intelligent 3D data regardless of the CAD system used to create the file); a new suite of manufacturing solutions (leverage manufacturing solutions that co-ordinate product design, tool design and NC programming); Autocad data workflow (shorten the learning curve with a smoother workflow for 2D Autocad users); and support for Microsoft Windows 64-bit OS architecture (developing massive assemblies and their associated drawings on a new 64-bit edition).
