Water treatment solutions for mining and metallurgy

Louise Davis

Accessing water and energy is an essential part of mining and metallurgical operations - managing water shortages is becoming increasingly difficult in many regions of the world.

In addition, environmental legislation is becoming evermore strict, and new solutions have to be applied.

LiqTech International is provider of innovative and robust water treatment technology, which enables our customers to meet discharge limits and reuse valuable water assets.

LiqTech is offering turn-key water treatment plants which is in line with the holistic approach towards water management that is gaining popularity in the mining industry.

The heart of the LiqTech water treatment systems is the MF/UF ceramic membranes made of Silicon Carbide (SiC). The material itself is virtually indestructible and its hydrophilic properties are well suited in the wastewater treatment systems. In order to achieve the water treatment objectives, solutions often consist of integrated water treatment processes such as precipitation for removal of heavy metals and reverse osmosis for desalination.

LiqTech has recently installed a 2 x 500 m3/h turn-key wastewater treatment plant to a European mining company – objective of the plant is to remove specific heavy metals prior to environmental discharge.
