New ATEX-compliant decentralised frequency inverter

Nord Drivesystems is launching an ATEX-compliant, decentralised frequency inverter with class IP 69K protection. This guarantees the complete sealing of the housing, even for processing applications which require frequent high pressure cleaning. The inverter is specially designed for simple applications and can be mounted decentralised, outside the switch cabinet.

Many applications do not fully utilise the immense scope of functions of modern frequency inverters. To fill the gap which has resulted between simple motor starters and full featured frequency inverters, Nord has developed the Nordac Base SK 180E. This frequency inverter concentrates on the essential functions for pumps and conveyor technology (PI/speed control, energy saving, communication with peripherals) and results in savings in both purchase and performance.

It includes power ranges up to 2.2 kW and can be mounted outside the switch cabinet (mounting to a wall or on the motor is possible). The inverter is flexible with regard to accessories and function, and a great number of communication interfaces make it compatible with all common bus systems. The drive controller offers high precision control while IP 69K offers protection against the ingress of dust and jets from high pressure water and steam cleaning.

Like all Nord frequency inverters, the it comes with an integrated PLC. The intelligent drive electronics reduces the load on the higher level system control unit and allows for a modular plant design. Application data can be evaluated in real time by the decentralised PLC, for example for the optimisation of diagnostic facilities.
