Heat-tracing control system

Tyco Thermal Controls has launched its new DigiTrace NGC-30 - the first of a new series of advanced control, monitoring and power distribution systems developed for industrial heat-tracing applications.

DigiTrace NGC-30 offers a variety of features and functions that make it easier to manage industrial electrical heat-tracing systems from a central location.

Heat-tracing is widely employed for temperature maintenance on process lines and for frost protection to exposed pipes, vessels and other equipment. The demand for safe and reliable operation has increased the need for centralised access to critical information on the integrity of heat-tracing systems.

Controlling up to 260 circuits, DigiTrace NGC-30 fulfils this function by monitoring a range of key performance indicators including temperatures, earth leakage and operating currents and alerting operators to potential problems. The information is reported back as messages or alarms to the DigiTrace User Interface Terminal (UIT) or remotely using the DigiTrace Supervisor client-server software package. This enables action to be initiated before system failure or tripping of the circuit breakers.

The DigiTrace UIT has a colour touchscreen and allows convenient central access to all heat-tracing circuits. It can be installed either in the power distribution panel or located remotely, as required.

A DigiTrace Supervisor client-server software package provides a graphical interface and enables operators to configure and monitor many DigiTrace systems from any convenient location. Features like alarms, events, data logging, trending, recipes and batching have been included to simplify maintenance of any heat-tracing installation.

Tyco Thermal Controls has developed this advanced new generation DigiTrace NGC-30 system with the compatibility to allow upgrades to existing installations controlled by the popular MoniTrace-200N, thus enabling them to benefit from the new features offered by the DigiTrace NGC-30 and the latest DigiTrace Supervisor software.
