Improvements to motor management system

Paul Boughton

Siemens Automation and Drives is expanding its Simocode pro motor management system to allow even more flexible use.

The innovations include an operator panel with display, a decoupling module for voltage and power measurement in all systems, as well as expansions to the Simocode ES software.

In addition to the latest measured values, the new operator panel displays operating data and diagnostics data and the actual status of the motor feeder direct at the control cabinet. The user can also control the motor quickly and flexibly using the freely programmable pushbuttons. To enable the voltage and power measurement of Simocode pro to be used in all systems without restriction, a decoupling module is now available which - in combination with the current/voltage detection module of Simocode pro - makes it possible to use voltage detection even in ungrounded systems.

As well as innovations in the system hardware, the Simocode ES engineering software has also been revised and now offers more performance power and improved handling, including support of S7 routing in conjunction with the Simatic S7-300 or S7-400. With an existing Simocode pro online connection, the status of binary and analogue signals can also be displayed in the graphics editor, or trends of up to five freely selectable measured values can be displayed. A free service pack also opens up these functions to those already using Simocode ES.

Another addition is a new version of the free labelling software Sirius Label Designer that enables free labelling of the pushbuttons and LEDs on the Simocode pro operator panels as well as on the already supported command devices and signalling units from Siemens. Various pre-punched films are available as accessories for use with commercially available laser printers.
