High-performance rupture disc without score tooling

Paul Boughton

Plant managers are constantly searching for opportunities to improve process performance as they respond to pressure for increased outputreduced emissionslower costs and adequate protection for personnel and equipment.

From high tech plants to simple silosequipment working under pressure may be damaged by non-controlled pressure increases.

Utilising Fike’s new G2 Technologythe Axius rupture disc is the first of its kind to be manufactured without score tooling.

When tooling is used to create a score line it stresses the material where the tooling has been appliedthus creating an area for potential fatigue and/or failure. The Axius rupture disc has a ‘line of weakness’ on the dome itself. There are no stress zones that can fatigue and no tool marks on the process side of the rupture discmaking this the only 95percent operating ratio disc with a completely smooth process surface.

The Axius can also operate without fatigue from full vacuumup to a 95percent operating ratio in excess of 50000 times.
