Vandal resistant switches have latching action

Paul Boughton

In addition to the standard momentary switch action, Arcolectric's expanded range of vandal resistant switches has a latching action to give push-on, push-off operation.

The three families - 1900, 0911 and 8300 - offer a wide choice of options, styles and formats to suit many diverse applications. Both the actuators and bodies are machined from high-grade stainless steel to produce a strong, robust switch capable of withstanding harsh treatment.

The 1900 series has single or double pole change-over switching with momentary action. Flat or domed profile actuators are produced in two sizes with 18 and 21.5mm diameter bezels and fit 16 and 19mm diameter mounting holes. Current rating is up to 5A, 250Vac and is front panel sealed to IP66.

The 0911 style incorporates a discrete micro-switch with change-over contacts rated up to 16A, 250Vac. The flat top actuator is housed in 21.5mm diameter bezel with 19mm diameter mounting hole and is front panel sealed to IP66. For volume usage other micro switches may be specified with alternative operating pressures, switching or terminals.

The 8300 family offers a choice of three actuator styles with flat, raised and domed profiles housed in 21.5 or 25mm diameter bezels. Single and double switching is available with either momentary or latching action.

The latching action is unique for this style of switch providing push-on, push-off operation. Current rating is up to 16A, 250Vac, and the switch is front panel sealed to IP66. Six terminal options are available for 6.3 and 4.8mm tabs, solder tags and PCB pins.

All the switches carry ENEC, UL and CSA approvals, are fully RoHS compliant and find many applications where security of operation must be maintained under severe conditions such as door entry and access control.
