Hot on the heels of hygiene with radar

Paul Boughton

In industries where hygiene is of paramount importance such as life science sectors, accurate and reliable level measurement can often be a problem due to changing density or conductivity of the product. Here, guided radar is ideal for the application conditions but often fails in terms of hygiene requirements.

The new Endress + Hauser Levelflex M FMP43 has been specially designed to combat both these factors. Levelflex M FMP43 offers accurate and reliable measurement independent of process conditions such as density, conductivity, temperature changes (CIP/SIP), product foaming and even use of spray balls.

However, it also performs on the hygiene front with its easy-to-clean electropolished surfaces to Ra=0.38um in compliance with ASME BPE. With its stainless steel probe and elastomer seals, there’s no probe discolouration, diffusion or undetected gaps. And, with easily exchangeable probes, process connections and O-rings, it offers true flexibility for engineering and operation in terms of maintenance and stock holding.

The Levelflex M FMP43 is a guided radar device for life science applications. With its 1-in (DN25) process connections and optional remote housing, the FMP43 can be installed in applications where space is at a premium. Designed for simplicity, the transmitter housing is detachable from the probe so that it can be calibrated inline using the dedicated Calibration-Kit – simply connect and calibrate within minutes! The probe itself can be sealed with a protective cover for autoclave sterilisation.
