Conductivity sensor suits CIP applications
Burkert's new 8221 conductivity sensor is suitable for CIP (clean-in-place) applications, including steam sterilisation. This feature enables the sensor to provide the time- and cost-saving benefits of phase detection across all transmitted media, including aggressive cleaning agents. It also guarantees transparency of the process at all times, plus protection against expensive errors in fluid handling.The hygienic design and the robust construction of the Type 8221 conductivity sensors mean that they are suitable for use under demanding conditions in food and beverage, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and the general chemical industries.
Four-electrode technology gives an extended measuring range (0.1uS/cm to 500mS/cm); this technology eliminates the polarisation phenomenon normally observed with two-electrode sensors. The engineered design guarantees excellent linearity over a wide conductivity range of more than six decades, and an integrated temperature sensor (Pt1000) is a standard feature of all versions.
The high surface finish of the 8221 sensors enables the units to remain in place during cleaning cycles, saving both time and cost for the user. In addition, all the unit's wetted parts are FDA-approved, plus the range of process connection interfaces provides flexibility across a wide range of hygienic applications.
