New range of touch-sensitive buttons

Paul Boughton
Kapix is a new range of touch-sensitive buttons and pilot lights from Comitronic for use in control panels. These products are targeted at applications in factories and facilities where frequent and rough handling of buttons is necessary, or where pilot lights are required to remain visible and reliable despite the presence of condensation or dust. The touch-sensitive button has two LEDs, flashing when the contact is enabled after finger actuation (flip/flop, toggle or delayed action).

They are suitable for replacement of many other manufacturers' mechanical pushbuttons in standard 22 and 30mm mounting holes and have a wide operating temperature range.

This range features a very long life expectancy and can typically last up to 10 years or 100,000h. The LED lighting provide many benefits compared with traditional lights, such as energy efficiency, reduced maintenance and lower installation costs, so they are useful for electrical panel lamps, signal lights, command boards, industrial equipment, hospitals and many other applications.
