Valmet is set to provide a new secondary superheater to the circulating fluidised bed (CFB) boiler at Eneco’s Bio Golden Raand biomass plant in Delfzijl, the Netherlands

The service project supports Eneco and Valmet’s lifecycle partnership by minimising the risk of unplanned downtime and enhancing the plant’s overall reliability.

Tom Schepers, head of Industrials at Eneco, said, “Maintaining high availability is critical for reliable baseload steam supply to our customers. Lifecycle replacements like this secondary superheater are key to securing reliable performance both now and in the future. Our long-standing partnership with Valmet ensures that upgrades are planned and executed proactively, minimising risks to production. We value Valmet’s technical expertise and strong understanding of our plant, which supports efficient execution and our long-term performance targets.”

The CFB boiler was first delivered by Valmet in 2013. The combined heat and power plant uses recycled wood as fuel to produce renewable electricity for the local community and steam for an industrial plant.

Oliver Sarelin, sales manager, EMEA, Pulp, Energy and Circularity, Valmet, said, “Eneco’s Bio Golden Raand plant is a great example of how efficient and sustainable energy production can be achieved with demanding fuels through continuous development. The secondary superheater replacement is a key lifecycle investment that helps to ensure high availability and reliable production. By combining our service expertise with the plant’s operational knowledge, we deliver solutions that minimise downtime and support stable and efficient performance.”

The order is included in Valmet’s orders received for the second quarter of 2026. The value of the order is not disclosed. The delivery and installation will take place in March 2027.

The delivery includes a turnkey replacement of the CFB boiler’s secondary superheater, covering engineering, manufacturing, and installation. The new superheater is a one-to-one replacement, enabling integration with the existing boiler and reducing installation time during the planned outage. The scope also includes installation by Valmet’s service team to support efficient execution and high quality.
