Ultra-compact gigabit controller with an internal high-speed interface

The new ultra-compact and fanless industry controller POC-120 from Acceed barely has the size of a 3.5-in hard disk drive.

The micro PC is based on the E3826 dual core Atom processor from Intel with 1.46 GHz and has two GigE interfaces as well as three USB interfaces. Further data exchange is possible via the two RS-232/422/485 serial interfaces and the individually configurable digital I/O interface.

Small, powerful and designed for temperatures of up to 70°C, the POC-120 presents itself as an ideal embedded controller for space-critical applications in industrial surroundings, in building automation, for security applications and also for mobile use.

The fanless POC-120 microcomputer has approximately the dimensions of a 3.5-in hard drive and is equipped with the Atom processor E3826 from Intel with 1.46 GHz. Its working memory can be upgraded up to 8GB on the SODIMM socket for DDR3L-1067.

The ultra-compact design of the full metal housing consisting of a resistant aluminium alloy together with the two PoE gigabit connections is highly suitable for security applications with IP cameras and further applications with IP-based Smart devices. The high data transfer rate supports secure video streaming, image analysis in video monitoring and machine vision application with GigE cameras, for example for production control or robot control.

Three USB connections of which one with USB 3.0 and two serial (RS-232/422/485) connections provide high flexibility for data communication with devices, sensors and actors. The special internal high-speed interface enables customer-specific I/O functions via a Mezzanine card.

A video output with a VGA socket supports resolutions of up to 2560 x 1600 pixels. A standard sized mSATA socket functions as a memory interface. An audio output rounds-off the equipment.

The POC-120 embedded controller can be operated at an ambient temperature range from -25°C to +70 °C with an installed SSD and 100% CPU load. The special aluminium alloy and the design using elaborate heat conduction technology also enable installation on narrow and poorly ventilated cable ducts, switch boxes or weather-protected housing. Its flexible supply voltage from 8 to 35 VDC extends its range of use to mobile applications, for example in buses, transport or rail vehicles.
