Spintek Filtration Inc
Rotary Membrane Systems
The company’s rotating metal membrane filtration technology is uniquely suited for high solids levels, high viscosity and high operating temperatures. The system concentrates suspended solids with high viscosity to 60% solids levels without fouling. It outperforms standard membrane systems in fractionation/concentration at a lower cost.
With heightened environmental awareness about contaminated water from industrial pollutants, companies now look to membrane filtration solutions for discharge, recycle and recovery problems.
Coalescers and Dual Media Filters
For Solvent Extraction (SX) the proprietary Aqualescer® is an improved aqueous coalescer for both electrolyte and raffinate streams. This system provides an economic effective process for coalescing entrained organic improving the performance of existing or subsequent dual-media filters -- and on raffinate streams provide a stand-alone solution. As pre-treatment to DMF: 1) improve final effluent quality; 2) reduce backwash frequency; 3) provide easily recovered organic-- not reprocess backwash electrolyte or water.
System testing has shown capability of operating at pressures under 140 kPa and obtained entrained organic removal of up to 95%. Low operating pressures allow treatment of raffinate streams previously not feasible due to high capital and operation costs
The improved coalescer design allows the system to be applied to new construction or to operating plants. A unique feature is the way the coalescer can be incorporated into existing dual-media filters to significantly improve organic removal, extend service runs, and reduce backwashing frequency.
For high volume organic separations in the Solvent Extraction-Electrowinning (SX-EW) circuit for zinc, copper, nickel refining in mining process streams, there is now an answer to the industry’s current struggle to modernize operations, control costs and increase productivity: StreamScan.
This specialized software provides SpinTek engineers secure virtual access to monitor SX dual media filter systems and coalescing filters at remote mining sites worldwide. The secure remote access gateway program interacts directly with system components to solve trouble shooting issues through modifications and on-demand reporting; and establish alarm profiles and updates – to avoid expensive service calls.
Plant managers can now increase productivity and enhance filter performance with sophisticated tools for data collection and logging to analyze filter performance in real time averting potential upset conditions and costly downtime.
Dual media filter installations with StreamScan are Chelopech, Bulgaria; Newmont PHX Copper, USA; Horsehead, USA; Achit-Ikht, Mongolia; Aktogay, Kazakhstan; and Toromocho, Peru; to name a few. The company utilizes this software not only in mining but also to increase productivity in oily water and oil field applications.
Management consists of engineers, chemists and marketing professionals with combined experience of more than 50 years in the separations business.
Critical skills of the SpinTek “Team” include: applications engineering expertise in each target market; technology invention and acquisition; design and assembly skills management; project management systems with crucial execution capabilities.
