Rotary position sensor gains more input/output options

Paul Boughton

Following its release last year, BEI has added more input/output options and expanded the operational environmental capabilities of its 9960 series Hall Effect rotary position sensor.

Available in the UK from Variohm EuroSensor, the new options include validation to key aspects of ISO-7637-2 for passenger cars and commercial vehicles, and compatibility with the harsh transients found in vehicle battery systems.

New electrical options include 9-30 VDC in/4-20 mA out and 15-30 VDC in/0-10 VDC out. The 9960 now also carries an IP69K rating for high-pressure, high-temperature wash-down applications. These options combine for an exceptionally rugged and reliable non-contacting rotary motion control sensor in a fully sealed design that suits extremely wet, dusty and dirty environments.

These additional options augment a modular range of rotary position sensors for harsh environment applications that are available with fast delivery timescales – even for small quantities.

Aimed at demanding positioning applications in construction, agriculture and quarry equipment as well as harsh industrial processing, valve control and materials handling, the new range offers 24 standard electrical angles through 0º to 360 as well as programmable angles with some I/O options. To meet the widest range of uses, the 9960 series is available in single or dual redundant outputs with electrical input and output options spanning voltage, ratiometric, PWM and current.

Furthermore, the 9960 has increased its termination options to include 9 configuration selections covering flying leads, Metri-Pack, AMP and Deutsch connectors.
