Riftek to launch a new inspection and measurement system

Jon Lawson

Developed for a large US-based company that specialises in technology-enabled solutions for challenging energy related inspection and maintenance tasks, the RF525EP scanner is a useful component for a robotic crawler that is used for the down-hole detection of damage and defects as well as ovality measurement of gas and oil pipelines. As part of the design specification, the customer required the IP67-rated assembly to be certified explosion-proof.

Featuring custom designed 2D measurement scanners that include a high resolution video camera and LED lighting, the system is housed in an aluminium and glass unit with an internal heater so it can be used in temperatures from -20 to +70 degrees Centigrade.
