New respiratory protection solution

Scott Safety, a key player in the design, manufacture and supply of respiratory protection, brings the next generation of respiratory protection to workers in heavy industry with the launch of the Proflow 3EX. For the first time, Scott Safety combines AX gas filtration with the benefits of continuous flow-powered air. This opens up the use of powered air for workers requiring protection from AX gases, who were previously limited to negative-pressure facemask solutions.

Its makers claim that the Proflow 3EX is the only powered-air purifying respirator (PAPR) on the market that provides AX gas filtration. It has been created in response to a growing user need for an AX-powered respirator that combines comfort and ease of use with high levels of protection.

By using a battery powered motor that automatically draws the air through the cartridge, the Proflow 3EX reduces strain on the lungs and extends the time a respirator can be worn without taking a break, significantly improving the worker’s respiratory experience. In addition, the incorporation of three filters and the respirator’s optimised flow rate not only lowers the respiratory breathing burden but also offers robust protection against volatile, low-boiling organic AX vapours.

The Proflow 3 EX has ATEX approval and is suitable for use in explosive atmospheres. This makes it ideal for use in applications such as pharmaceutical and oil and gas industries, where AX gases are commonly encountered.

To further enhance its ease of use, the Proflow 3EX can also be used with a range of headtops, masks, accessories and other filter types to suit a range of working environments.
