New moisture measurement technology

News Editor

Panametrics, a Baker Hughes business, has launched new moisture measurement technology, HygroPro II.

The HygroPro II is an intrinsically safe, compact, loop-powered display transmitter. Designed specifically to meet the demands of rugged industrial and oil and gas applications, it will replace the original HygroPro.

“We’re excited to launch the HygroPro II,” said Colin Hehir, vice president of Panametrics.  “Already rigorously tested in the field by several customers and widely praised, the HygroPro II aims to raise the bar on performance and reliability. It is expected to be the first of a series of new technologies that we will bring to market.”

Using Panametrics’ aluminium oxide FX sensor, the HygroPro II can accurately measure moisture in gases and hydrocarbon liquids across dew/frost point temperatures ranging from -110°C to 20°C. Optimising performance, the new product provides customers with extra measurement data through its HART digital output and is also fitted with integrated pressure and temperature sensors.

The HygroPro II will support customers’ critical applications where precision, accuracy and reliability are essential. These include moisture measurement in natural gas processing to ensure quality and prevent corrosion, hydrogen recycle streams in refineries to optimise catalyst performance, and a myriad of petrochemical processing applications where the presence of water vapour impacts product quality and yields. The new technology will also support energy transition applications including: biogas upgrading; carbon capture and storage; and hydrogen production, transportation and storage
