Manufacturer of additive manufacturing (3D printing) systems, EOS, has expanded its metal materials portfolio with Titanium Ti64ELI and StainlessSteel 316L.

Parts built in EOS Titanium Ti64ELI (extra low interstitial) have a chemical composition and mechanical properties that meet the ASTM F136 standard specification for wrought annealed Ti64ELI alloy used in the manufacture of surgical implants.
Of high purity and biocompatible, the powder can be processed in an EOSINT M 280 (400 Watt) metal laser-sintering system and exhibits high detail resolution as well as excellent corrosion resistance.
Parts built from EOS StainlessSteel 316L alloy have a chemical composition corresponding to ASTM F138, the standard specification for wrought 18Cr-14Ni-2.5Mo stainless steel bar and wire for producing surgical implants (UNS S31673). In the medical industry, this alloy is particularly suitable for manufacturing surgical instruments and for applications in endoscopic surgery and orthopaedics, as well as for implants.
Optimised specifically for processing in the EOSINT M 280, the material shows good corrosion resistance and high ductility. It is also a good choice for use in the watch and jewellery industries. Watch cases, for example, can be additively manufactured easily and cost-efficiently, while saving material.
The alloy is also suited to producing a wide variety of other products from spectacle frames to functional elements for yachts. In the aerospace industry, EOS StainlessSteel 316L is a good choice for the manufacture of clamping elements and heat exchangers. Parts can be mechanically post-processed and polished.
