Long-Life isolated small power supply for embedded ATX boards

ADL Embedded Solutions has launched a 150W power supply board in a 5cm x 10cm (2in x 4in) form factor for embedded ATX PC boards, writes Nick Flaherty.

The ADLPS35ISO-150 is designed to meet the power requirements of the high performance Intel Core i5 and i7 processors now being used in space-constrained embedded systems by providing robust ATX voltages in a small form factor designed for rugged, extended temperature use. The ADLPS35ISO-150 provides up to 500V of galvanic isolation from dirty power and unwanted transients and is tailored to work with ADL’s single board computers (SBC) with design margin for inrush startup currents, and quiescent operation with multiple peripheral cards.

The ADLPS35ISO-150 features an MTBF of over 500,000 hrs, and can be ruggedised for MIL-STD 810 and rugged industrial applications. In addition to 500V of galvanic isolation, input and output voltages are protected against overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage and reverse voltage.  The ADLPS35ISO-150 has an input voltage range of 20V to 30V and output voltages of 5V at 20A, 5V at 5A, 3.3V at 10A and 12V at 8A. It is EMC compliant to EN61000-6-2 and EN61000-6-4 for industrial environments and the external options include a MILCOTS filter option for MIL-STD 704/1275/461 military applications and a UPS module with battery pack options up to 100 sec.

“The ADLPS35ISO-150 is optimised for long-life, rugged, embedded applications in a variety of industrial and military power environments. A judicious choice of components and circuit architecture has resulted in a long-life MTBF and its compact size makes it a perfect choice for rugged small form factor embedded systems anywhere,” said Martin Kristof, Managing Director of ADL Embedded Solutions in Germany.
