Custom sealed connector modules save space

Molex has launched a range of sealed connector modules that can be customised to specific requirements.

The µPDB Custom Sealed Modules are aimed at designers adding or relocating power switching and circuit protection in vehicles.

The modules are fully customised, using only the specific components and materials needed for the application.

By packaging relays and fuses close to the application, the need for long wire runs back to the power distribution board is eliminated, saving space and cost and avoiding potential wiring errors.

Modules are stackable for further convenience and savings in areas with strict space limits.

“Transitioning from a hard-wired auxiliary power box to a connector interface simplifies electrical system design, eliminates wiring errors and reduces the number of cut leads by up to half,” said Rand Wilburn, global product manager at Molex. “With no unnecessary components or wasted space, μPDB Custom Sealed Modules deliver the smallest footprint, easiest customization, and most cost-effective solution in the industry.”

The fully sealed connector system enables mounting in multiple locations within the vehicle, including high-vibration and harsh environments.

Modules are fully USCAR-2 specified and IP6k7 rated and feature an operating temperature range of -40 to +125°C (-40 to +257°F), making them applicable for use in passenger cars and trucks, off-highway equipment, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles, boats and personal watercraft.
