Industrial and embedded computer manufacturer Blue Chip Technology has announced the launch of its new Alpha range of advanced integrated touchscreen computers.

Designed to be compact and attractive, the new Alpha range offers engineers a fast track product platform for any embedded system requiring a feature rich touch screen display, considerable processing power, ultra low power consumption and a robust performance.

The new Alpha range offers fast boot times, 24/7 operation and is available with a range of processor cores, operating temperatures and OS choices. Standard connectivity includes LAN, quad USB Hosts, one USB Device, RS232 (with hardware handshaking), RS232 (Tx/Rx), RS422/485, Stereo Audio (input/output), twelve General Purpose IO signals plus Real Time Clock and battery. Options include dual Camera inputs, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, BlueTooth as well as GPRS/GSM, GPS and accelerometer.

"For us and our customers, the Alpha range represents an important innovation," said Barry Husbands, Managing Director of Blue Chip Technology Ltd. "At its core is the latest smart-phone technology that has enabled us to create a new generation of touchscreen embedded computers that will in turn enable engineers to innovate and create feature rich market leading solutions."[Page Break]

Blue Chip Technology Ltd is a European leader in the design and manufacture of embedded computer systems. Blue Chip Technology serves a wide range of industries, from mission critical systems to the global railway industry to diagnostic test equipment.

Blue Chip Technology’s new Alpha range includes screen sizes 4.3-in (480*272), 5.7-in (640*480), 7.1-in (800*480) and 8-in (800*600) all with integrated touch screens and a machined aluminum front panel. Larger screen sizes will be added in the near future. Current OS support includes Embedded Windows, Windows CE, Linux and Android.

“Although the Alpha range is very much an off-the-shelf product, we are also able to provide customized versions for customers who want to integrate their electronics with the Alphas. The neat front panel overlay also allows customers to brand the Alphas to suit their company or product needs,” said Barry Husbands. “All aspects of the design, software and manufacture take place in-house at our head quarters in the UK near Chester. This enables us to quickly create customer specific solutions and run them through our production facility.”
