Anesco has powered up hotel chain Premier Inn’s first ‘Eco hotel’, after managing the design and installation of a rooftop solar PV system.
Camborne hotel, based in Cornwall, UK is part of a major drive by parent company Whitbread to improve it green credentials by moving towards environmentally sound business practices.
The 65-bedroom site opened in January and features a number of in-built efficiency measures, designed to reduce energy usage.
The 9.52kw peak system installed by national energy efficiency solutions company, Anesco, will produce 8000kw hours of electricity per year and help to offset 4.5 tons of carbon annually.
Energy generated by the scheme will be used to power the eco hotel, including four electric car charging points in the car park. All excess energy will be fed back into the national grid as part of the Government’s Feed in Tariff scheme.
