A new partnership between Freetricity and energy efficiency solutions company Anesco, will see the installation of solar PV schemes generating four mega watts of power – one of the largest projects of its kind in the UK.

Freetricity and Anesco are to complete solar PV installations initially on 125 commercial buildings across the south of England in the next six months, including schools, warehousing, work places and industrial sites.

The partnership is backed by a special fund that will provide the commercial solar PV installations and capitalise on the government’s Feed in Tariffs, which make payments for renewable energy exported back into the national grid.

The solar PV schemes will be installed at no cost to landlords and the roof space will form part of a 25 year lease. The installations will provide free energy, while also helping landlords to reduce their carbon emissions and to meet government targets.

Anesco is to manage and install the scheme, and will then operate its unique 25 year installations and maintenance package, AnescoMeter, to ensure each scheme continues to operate at its optimum efficiency.

Paul Williams, Freetricity CEO, said: “Anesco is a logical partner for us and a natural choice, as it has impressive experience of managing large scale schemes. Anesco has a great management team and solid backing, with a strong service offering. Our relationship with Anesco will enable us to roll out a substantial amount of free solar installations.”

Anesco CEO Adrian Pike, said: “We were impressed by the visionary attitude of Paul and the team at Freetricity. We’re delighted to have been chosen to work with them on this long term contract, which will see us become the number one player in the commercial market place.”
