High-pressure inductive sensors 350bar rated

Paul Boughton
Balluff is expanding its line of high-pressure inductive sensors to include miniaturised models. Typical applications for these 350bar-rated miniature sensors in M8 and M5 housings include industrial and mobile hydraulics, as well as valves.

These new miniature sensors create a variety of new application possibilities; their compact size is suitable in miniaturised power units and valves, as well as hydraulic block cylinders as used, for example, to actuate slides on injection moulding machines.

The IP68-rated housing of these flush-mountable sensors is made of stainless steel, with a ceramic sensing surface. The sealing design is the same as for Balluff's existing M12 and M18 sensor; here also a clever O-ring and support ring combination ensures resistance to high pressures.

Balluff's new sensors, which offer a maximum switching frequency of 4000Hz, are available in four versions, as PNP normally-open/normally-closed and NPN normally-open/normally-closed. Cable versions are also available on request. The sensors include an integrated LED function indicator and they can be precisely set and positioned using the thread pitch.
