Baseplate-cooled power supplies rated to 500W

Paul Boughton
TDK-Lambda is launching the CPFE500 range of baseplate-cooled power supplies that are capable of providing 500W without the need for fan cooling. With an extended temperature range (-40 to +85 degrees C), this innovative family of AC-DC power supplies will be of particular interest to engineers who need high power but cannot use fans, or for applications where the unit is sealed in an enclosure.

These power supplies are available with a protective coating to protect against the ingress of dust, moisture and other contaminants, making the CPFE500 suitable for use in harsh, dusty or outdoor applications - such as broadcast, food processing, LED signage, COTS military, and print and packaging applications. Since there is no fan, the CPFE500 series is equally suited to low-audible-noise applications such as audio mixing desks and recording studios. All models in the CPFE500 range are delivered with TDK-Lambda's three-year warranty and meet EN 55022 / EN 55011 Class B and MIL STD 461/462D CE102 EMC specifications, which helps to simplify the system design.

TDK-Lambda is offering these single-output power supplies in 12V, 28V or 48V DC versions. Up to +/-20 per cent output voltage adjustment is possible, enabling the CPFE500 to be used in a variety of customer-specific bulk power applications. With an extended temperature range and lightning surge capability (up to 6kV), the CPFE500 is both rugged and reliable. Efficiency of up to 88 per cent ensures heat dissipation is minimised. Operating from a universal input of 85 to 265V AC with power factor correction, the CPFE500 can operate both in series or parallel. A 'power on' signal, remote on/off and remote sense are included.
