UV ink pump is a 'world first'

Paul Boughton
The ARO Fluid Technologies business of Ingersoll Rand Industrial Technologies is launching what it claims is the world's first UV ink pump. UV inks crystallise very easily due to their chemistry, so efficient UV ink transfer has traditionally been very difficult using conventional pumping technologies, hence manual formulation and transfer is typically used.

Now, after years of field tests and product development, Ingersoll Rand has successfully produced a piston-type pump that minimises shear and thermal energy. The pump therefore drastically reduces operating costs in the chemical processing, printing and packaging industries, while allowing for the automation of medium- to high-viscosity UV ink and liquid transfers.
