Self-checking flow meter

Paul Boughton
The new Maxon Smartlink Meter is one of the only self-checking flow meters in its class. The thermal mass flow meter offers precise, repeatable mass flow measurement for gaseous fuels and air.

No need anymore to compensate for pressure or temperature fluctuations; the Smartlink Meter displays instantaneous standard rate and totalized mass flow without calculations and gives a 4–20 mA output signal, directly proportional to the mass flow. The meter provides highly accurate flow measurement – down to ±2% – over a wide turn down range – up to 20:1.

Adding to its uniqueness, Smartlink Meter’s patented technology offers functional self-checking to ensure safe and reliable operation and a configurable alarm output. The meter is FM and CE approved and comes in a rugged IP66 design which enables it to be used in harsh environments. The meter has a 4-20mA input port which enables electrical linkage of two meters. In this set-up, the meters can monitor, display, and output air/fuel ratio or compare gas consumption in multi burner installations.
