The ac drives manufacturer Vacon introduces a new product range, specifically tailored to building automation industry, comprising of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning sector (HVAC) applications.

Globally, 40 per cent of the energy is used in buildings, where HVAC applications are the biggest consumers. Ac drives can dramatically decrease the energy consumption of HVAC applications, thus contributing to a global reduction of CO2 emissions.

"The Vacon 100 HVAC is the first ac drive that is purpose-built and designed to meet the stringent requirements of the energy-intensive HVAC sector," says Heikki Hiltunen, Executive Vice President, Vacon.

In HVAC applications, ac drives bring both energy-saving and controllability benefits, thus offering a huge potential reduction in CO2 emissions globally.

The Vacon 100 HVAC is very easy and straightforward to use. The basic daily functions are easily accessible via a modern graphical user interface, and the most demanding applications can be made with Vacon's standard programming tools.

The Vacon 100 HVAC drives - available in the power range of 1.1-30kW and for supply voltages of 380-480V - comply with the requirements of the new harmonics standard IEC/EN 61000-3-12.

Features include:

- Enclosure classes IP21 and IP54.

- EMC harmonics: EN 61000-3-12 compliant.

- EMC radio frequencies: EN 61800-3 Category C2 built in. Complies with radiated and conducted emissions.

- RoHS compliant, no electrolytic capacitors, no lead in the circuit boards.

- Intelligent cooling arrangement: Control and power airflow separated.

Vacon's compact drives are easy to use and offer basic features for general applications. These drives are designed for fast and easy commissioning. For OEM customers, they offer optimum standard configurations but also versatile tailorability for customer-specific needs.

The company's multipurpose drives are designed for continuous heavy use with more features and high flexibility. Designed to the highest standards with a full range of enclosures for all environments, they offer robust and reliable operation for years.
