Proportional valves gain new 4-20mA control option

Eaton Fluid Power is reports that three series of Vickers directional proportional valves with onboard electronics have been upgraded with a new 4-20mA control command option. This control command option is an additional feature to the voltage command already available.

Benefits of the new 4-20mA command option on the KBSDG-3/5, KBFDG-3/5 and KBHDG-5/7/8/10 11 series valves include maintaining the integrity of the command signal over lengthy cable and improved noise immunity.

Colin Cooper, Eaton's product manager for industrial controls in the EMEA region, comments; "The new -11 design series supersedes the existing -10 design series. The new valves are completely backward-compatible, electrically, hydraulically and mechanically. They will be shipped from the factory with optimised adjustments that will provide both consistent flow gain and excellent reproducibility valve-to-valve, to provide a true 'plug-and-play' solution.

"All the customer has to do to take advantage of the 4-20 mA control technology is to select the model code option."

These Vickers valves are typically used in heavy-duty applications including primary metals production, die-casting and foundry equipment, civil engineering, marine and offshore equipment, petrochemical, power generation and wood processing.

KBFDG4V 3/5 valves are direct-acting, solenoid-operated directional control valves with spool position feedback controlled by an onboard amplifier. The valves are said to be cost-effective for both open- and closed-loop systems.

KBSDG4V 3/5 valves provide high dynamic response. These, too, are direct-acting, solenoid-operated directional control valves with spool position feedback controlled by the onboard amplifier. Their fast, accurate control makes them suitable for use in closed-loop applications requiring demanding and accurate control of actuator position, speed, pressure/load or any combination of them.

KBHDG5V 5/7/8/10 valves are two-stage, high-flow, high dynamic response, pilot-operated, direct-acting, solenoid-operated directional control valves. They are controlled by the onboard amplifier and have spool position feedback on the pilot and main stage to deliver fast, accurate valve control. They are suitable for use in closed-loop applications requiring demanding and accurate control of actuator position, speed, pressure/load or any combination of these.
