Engineering software packages are more intuitive

Infolytica Corporation is releasing new versions of it Magnet, Elecnet and Thermnet software packages that benefit from numerous customer-driven enhancements.

Behzad Forghani, vice-president of Infolytica Corporation, states: "The focus was on improving the solvers to provide faster results, particularly when solving for transient electromagnetic fields." Other improvements focus on usability, such as new validations and error-checking mechanisms, helping to make the software more intuitive.

Modifications to Magnet's transient electromagnetic field with full six degrees-of-freedom motion solvers are also included.

The new version of Thermnet supports coupling with Magnet's updated core loss calculation method, which computes the hysteresis plus the anomalous and eddy current losses in both 2D and 3D. In a simulation, the advanced core loss calculation algorithm for eddy currents takes different harmonics into account and, for hysteresis loss, it takes into account the minor loops.

Infolytica Corporation is also releasing a detailed case study titled 'Iron Loss Calculations in Laminated Structures Using Magnet,' which can be viewed by visiting the Infolytica website.

Magnet v6.27, Elecnet v6.19 and Thermnet v1.17 are now available for PCs running Microsoft Windows 2000, XP and Vista.
