The design aims to reduce the cost and the delivery time, by dividing the fabrication of the GBS into two main parts:
o The concrete structure provides a sheltered quay for berthing and offloading the LNG carriers. This U-shape concrete structure is simple to build, as it has no specific LNG requirements and can thus be built locally without difficulty.
o The tank structure, composed of membrane-type tanks, supports the regassification facilities, utilities, living quarters and can be built and precommissioned in a shipyard familiar with the building of LNG carriers.
