Industrial displays benefit from wider viewing angles

Hitachi Europe Display Products group is introducing a new 10.4inch TFT display module featuring Hitachi's IPS (in-plane-switching) display technology. The new TX26D12VM0AAA features a traditional aspect ratio of 4:3 and a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels (SVGA). A high-brightness, long-life LED backlight is employed, featuring an integrated dimming function for easy control of the backlight brightness in differing ambient lighting conditions.

Hitachi's industrial display module product line-up continues to implement IPS technology, which provides a stable colour image from any viewing angle, excellent colour saturation and a high contrast ratio. Well suited to use in process control displays, diagnostic systems and monitoring applications, the TX26D12VM0AAA provides an excellent contrast ratio of 800:1 and brightness of 450cd/m2. The use of IPS technology allows the TX26D12VM0AAA display module to support viewing angles of 170 degrees in both horizontal and vertical planes without any significant reduction in contrast.

Steve Donohoe, technical manager for Hitachi Display Products Group, comments: "Demand for wide-viewing-angle displays has increased in industrial applications and the new 10.4inch display module offers customers the option of a high-quality display offering exceptional optical performance. Customers in industrial markets can now benefit from the high-contrast and wide viewing angles achieved with Hitachi's IPS technology. For applications where exceptional image quality is essential, the TX26D12VM0AAA display module delivers unrivalled optical performance."

The 20-pin LVDS input signal interface enables the TX26D12VM0AAA to be used remotely from any driving electronics. The LVDS interface also provides support for either 6-bit or 8-bit RGB display data, enabling up to 262,000 or 16.7million colours to be displayed. The 10.4inch display module has external dimensions of 243.0mm (w) x 185.1mm (h) x 11.0mm (d), an operating temperature range of -20 to +70 degrees C and a weight of 560g.

Also being launched is the TX26D12VM0APA, which features an integrated analogue resistive touch panel. Suitable for many industrial applications requiring a high-visibility display image, the TX26D12VM0AAA and TX26D12VM0APA are suitable for use in public information displays, security surveillance, video monitoring and many other high-end industrial applications.

The new displays are available immediately through Hitachi Display Products Group European distribution partners.
