Self-adhesive gasket is fire-resistant to UL94 VO and 94HB

Paul Boughton

EMKA's 1016 self-adhesive gasket is now available in fire-resistant versions to UL94 VO and 94HB ratings, and also in EMC formats to address electrical and magnetic interference. The expanded closed-cell neoprene comes in stock strips from 3mm to 80mm thick and in standard widths from 10mm up to 80mm, with complete custom capability for sheets and punched shapes, for example.

EMC versions of the 1016 gaskets have a conductive external skin in order to attenuate the transmission of electromagnetic interference across the sealed junction. Typical applications for 1016 gaskets range from gap-sealing to noise reduction, as well as vibration damping and impact cushioning on cabinets, furniture and machinery.

1016 series gaskets are produced in neoprene and EPDM, they are self-adhesive when applied to clean, non-porous surfaces such as painted/unpainted metal, plastics or sealed natural materials including varnished timber.

The neoprene utilised in the 1016 program tolerates working temperatures of +70 degrees C to -30 degrees C, with the fire resistant versions capable of operating within +85 to -40 degrees C. They also offer substantial resistance to many typical commercial/industrial chemicals and gases.
