Turknkey signalling and communication system for Indonesia
The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Transport's Directorate General of Land Communications has awarded a contract to Alstom, as partner in a Itochu-led consortium, for the supply of a turnkey signalling and communication system.
The order comes within the framework of a project to upgrade track from single to double on a portion ("Segment one") of the Cikampek-Cirebon line in Jakarta.
The overall contract value is e45 million; Alstom's share of this for the signalling aspects of the upgrade is approximately e10 million.
The other partners in the consortium are John Holland-Leighton, which is responsible for track laying, civil works and some signalling installation, and Adhhi Karya, which will carry out some civil works.
For the contract, now in force, Alstom's's Atlas signaling and communication system will be installed in eight stations. Commissioning is scheduled for December 2004 with revenue service beginning exactly one year later.
Alstom (as the former GTM) supplied the Indonesia's railway regulator and infrastructure owner with its earlier system and the customer's satisfaction with that system was a leading factor in the current choice. m
