Door system for the Athens metro

Vapor Rail has signed a contract valued at $US 6 million with the Korean car builder Rotem Company.

It will provide the passenger outside-sliding plug door system including the door operator, the controller, door panels and peripherals, for 126 subway cars for the Attiko Metro S A in Athens.
The cars are part of an expansion of Athens' subway system in preparation for the 2004 Olympics.
Vapor Rail facility is an integrated centre with a complete set of door system development capabilities including mechanical, electrical and electronic design and manufacturing.
Its presence in Europe is supported by two sister companies, both member of the Wabtec Group, Vapor Stone UK Limited and H.P. srl in Italy.
Vapor Rail has been, to date, mainly present in North America where it dominates with over 75 per cent of market shares.
This new contract with Rotem represents, according to the company, a milestone in Vapor Rail's plan to enhance its role on the international market. . m
