Mooring and vessel approach system
Washington Chain’s new compact LNG release hooks provide a safe, secure, and reliable method for mooring ships of any size and type. Whether the choice is a single or multiple hook model, its hook design will swing completely free up to 180º horizontally and 45º vertically to maintain a straight pull on the lines at all times. The advanced MarQuip Mooring and Vessel Approach System, developed by Measurement Technology NW, provides accurate, real-time monitoring of mooring line tension for improved terminal safety and efficiency.
System features include user selected alarm settings and alarm actions, a recallable database of vessel mooring configurations and mooring line breaking strengths, plus automated data logging and trend analysis. At the heart of the system are two lasers mounted at the berthing area that measure the range, speed, and angle of an approaching vessel. This comprehensive monitoring package has been specifically designed to support a wide range of input and output requirements.
The companies general release hooks come in two models, standard and rotary. The benefit of the rotary is the smoothness of the line release. It can also supply an integral capstan, which, when used in conjunction with release hooks, reduce crew needs from three or four people to one or two. It also offers a ‘captive’ style release hook for towing. The captive style is designed to prevent the accidental release of the towline should it go slack.
