Portable transducers for marine surveys
The M162, from Airmar Transducers, is a dual frequency portable transducer used for marine survey applications. It features low to high frequencies for shallow and deep water survey. Low ringing (Q) versions provide clear bottom detail and are especially effective when surveying in extremely shallow water. The steamlined prow shape directs turbulent free water over transducer’s face for optimal readings. It can also be mounted on a towed body or directly to wood and fibreglass hulls. Internal transformer provides correct impedance match to echosounder and allows use of longer cables. A durable, seamless SEALCASTTM urethane housing provides for a long underwater life. The company also supplies the M191 features dual frequency capability in a compact, lightweight housing. These frequencies feature low sidelobes which focus more energy on target and provide good definition in hard bottom areas. The low ringing (Q) versions provide clear bottom detail and are especially effective at surveying in extremely shallow water. The stainless steel threaded stem easily attaches to portable mounting apparatus. It can be mounted on a towed body. An internal transformer provides correct impedance match to echosounder and allows use of longer cables. Again, says Airmar Transducers, the durable, seamless SEALCASTTM urethane housing is used for long underwater life. Airmar has also produced the SS5510 broadband 200 kHz transducer with a Q of 2.5 and very good sensitivity. This enables users to perform accurate surveys in shallow water with higher resolution. This transducer can also be ‘chirped’ with a longer pulse over a wide frequency band. Users with adjustable frequency echosounders will be able to regulate the operating frequency and tailor the beam width to specific survey conditions.l For more information, visit www.airmartechnology.com |
