Self-hold thermal control devices

Self-Hold devices are types of thermal controls which combine solid state components with traditional electro-mechanical type controls. They are generally used for over temperature protection. These devices offer the reliability of a bimetallic type thermal control along with an integrated heat source. Self-hold thermal controls offer an extra degree of safety in many different consumer applications. Once the traditional thermal control activates it will not automatically reset unless the consumer disconnects the power source to the application. The primary function of these devices is to interrupt the current based on increases in the operating temperature or an increase in the electrical load in the application.
