High-quality aluminium cylinders

Casting aluminium cylinders with diameters up to 40-ins (1000 mm) between 100 and 200-ins long is not an easy task.

Most production methods have difficulties to achieve a homogeneous structure within the material. Internal stresses force cylinders to change their dimensions, regarding ovality and straightness.
To solve these problems today, a special casting process has been adapted and optimised to produce high-quality aluminium cylinders.
Cylinders and rollers of this quality are needed for:
* Paper-making machines.
* Printing machines.
* Textile machinery.
* Machines for the production of plastics and foils, as well as for other engineering purposes.
Advantages such as:
* Fast acceleration to reach machine operating speeds immediately.
* Prompt deceleration to fulfil safety requirements for emergency stops.
* Low energy consumption to result in adequate dimensions of drive systems.
* Easy handling of cylinders to simplify mounting and, if necessary, demounting.
* Specialised casting process to eliminate internal tensions and minimise imbalances.
These are widely appreciated throughout the industry.
Increasing machine widths (>200-in, 5 metres) benefit from the quality of Blomker aluminium rollers.
Blomker aluminium cylinders are setting the standards needed to build state-of-the-art machinery by keeping their dimensions throughout the finishing process as well as during operating conditions.
In order to produce cylinders or complete rollers according to customer specifications, facilities such as programmable heat treatment facilities to achieve important physical properties; shot blasting with aluminium particles added extra surface finish; aluminium welding, manually and numerically controlled positions precisely; and quality control with ultra-sonic and hardness test, are used. *

LB Blomker is based at Zur Fuchsfram 4, D-49536, Lienen, Germany.
